Card Modification Creates new Cards

I have checked the forums but havent been able to find the answer. I have a note type.
Hanping Chinese which has five types of cards (Prounciation, Hanzi… etc.)

I make changes to the Pronunciation Card type (changes to both the front and the back of the card). When I click on Save, I expect that existing cards will use the new template. What happens is.

Anki creates 5 new cards (of Pronunciation, Hanzi, etc.) for each Pronunciation type card. You can see here in the screenshot

That the actual card was created on 30/12/2024 However we see that modifications were done on 1/1/25 on 16:31, 16:40, 16:54, 16:54 and so on and they are increasing exponentially. What can be the issue!!

First off, I’ll point out that you’re not modifying the “card” of a particular card type but modifying the note underlying all the cards of all card types.

Isn’t it 28/12/24 though?

Yes I am aware that I am modifying the note (or atleast a card type associated with a note) underlying all such cards. But still it should not duplicate all the other cards associated with that note. And it is happening exponentially first it would make 2, next time 4 times and so one. i ended up with 2,89,000 notes very soon lol. What could be a possible reason for it?

Yes you are correct the original date is 28 but that is okay.

I have something like this a couple times before – where cards seem to be multiplying. Try running Tools > Check Database.
