The problem is that I need to find a situation where it should work and does – like it works for you on Anki desktop – and compare that to a situation where it should work and doesn’t – like what you’re seeing on AnkiMobile. I was hoping that using your note type/card would make that easier. So far I haven’t been able to get it to work anywhere (i.e. the audio is always interrupted), so either that means I haven’t found the right situation yet, or it’s more broken than you thought!
I was able to verify at least that there’s nothing obvious about your card that could be interfering. It has 2 audio files, on the back template, one after the other – and there’s no JavaScript on the card that could be causing issues.

Let’s see if someone with more experience with this feature has something more useful to add.
An open question that is unclear from the feature/docs – what is “answering” supposed to mean? Is disabling the feature intended to allow the audio to continue playing when switching from the front of a card to the back of a card (i.e. clicking Show Answer) – or when switching from the back of a card to the next card (i.e. clicking an “answer”-grading button)?

Other than what you linked to on Reddit from 3y ago, I haven’t been able to find anyone who can’t get the setting to stop interrupting, but:
