Can't Sync AnkiMobile and Anki on Mac

I have Anki on my iPhone and the application on my Mac. I can sync changes from my Mac to my phone but not the other way around. I have updated Anki on both devices, but the problem persists. I also make sure when using one device, that the other does not have Anki open.

If I review cards on my phone then hit ‘Sync’, when I open it on my computer, the sync button isn’t orange. It’s just black—meaning there are no changes to be synced. I don’t know if the problem is with one of the devices or with AnkiWeb/some intermediary.

This problem is very frustrating because none of my progress is being reflected or updated as I usually do cards on my phone (and make them on my computer,) This problem didn’t happen last year but has occurred within the last few months.

First, it wouldn’t orange unless there was a major change and a one-way sync was required – it would be blue.

But also – desktop Anki syncs automatically when you open it (unless you disabled that?), so the sync is already done by the time you see the button.

As long as you have both devices connected to the same AnkiWeb account, your edits/updates should be syncing. Keep up with the good habit of syncing (or auto-syncing, on desktop) when you open the app and when you close/leave the app, on every device every time.
