Cannot use Ctrl+Return to add new card

For some reason, the Ctrl+Return shortcut does not add a note in the editor. It also doesn’t add a new line; it just does nothing. I have used it before – I think as late as the early FSRS times – but it appears to not work anymore. Incidentally, the Ctrl+Return shortcut works fine in Ankis Ctrl+Shift+; debug console, so I’m thinking it’s nothing to do with my particular setup.

I am on Linux, Fedora Kinoite, and have installed Anki from the Flathub package.

The Troubleshooting Checklist is great at eliminating the causes of unexplained behavior – Troubleshooting - Anki Manual . Take a look at the whole list, but especially #2 add-ons.

If that’s not it –

  • Are you using a keyboard layout other than US/International-English?
  • Go to Help > About – click Copy Debug Info – paste that whole thing when you respond.
  • Have you tried installing the released version of Anki instead? Linux Distro Packages - Anki Manual
