Cannot rate new cards after/while moving them between subdecks (FSRS, Anki 23.10)

Hi everyone,

I’m using Anki 23.10 with FSRS and have a deck structure organized by importance levels (lv1a, lv1b, lv1c), each with different target retention rates. Level 1a is for cards I want to remember best.

My workflow issue:

  1. I import new cards from a shared deck
  2. Review the card and want to tag it with lv1a/lv1b/lv1c based on importance
  3. Move it to the corresponding subdeck
    !!! problem here.
  4. Problem: After moving the card, I can’t rate it (good/bad/etc.), anki move on to the next card. so my initial review for that card isn’t recorded

Is there a way to move cards between subdecks while preserving the ability to rate them on first review? Or should I change my workflow somehow?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Happy holiday!

You can use the AJT Card Management addon to manually grade them in the browser

anki community is warm.

likely still work with FSRS,
i installed it on 23.10+FSRS, it can still rate the card good/bad/again by inspecting the info of the card.
shd help.
thanks

not sure the addon will work with fsrs though.

How does this work with FSRS? I don’t believe cards go through the Learning vs. Reviewing phases anymore since FSRS basically recommends “learning steps” <1d in settings

Feel free to experiment with it. For the time being we have this note in our guide Setting up Anki
^-- this guide is written well before the FSRS era it claim FSRS is unmature at that moment.

thx. btw my workflow is now:

i do anki cards on ankidroid,
when do a new card/want to move a card, i’ll tag them as p::deck, p::rate::2, and then bury it.

then at the end of the day (before bury ends) i’ll filter these tags, and then move and rate them either using this addon AJT or by preview.

thank you.

“move” shd be done before “rate” as the parameter of the decks will affect the “rate”. thanks.
