The same setting e.g. 95% retention on desktop will present a new card with a 2 day “good” review interval, whereas the same deck and settings and new card on iPhone/iPad will have a “good” review interval of 1day.
This seems like a bug to me. Its been going on for awhile now and I have not seen a solution for it anywhere. I have to change the settings in the deck to 92% retention while I study on my phone in order to get the 2 day interval, as I don’t want to overload my next day’s studying. Then when back on my pc I change the setting back to 95%.
I hope there is a solution for this, or if it is a bug, it gets solved soon, as it is fairly annoying. Especially since on more mature cards I can’t tell if the interval is drastically shortened or not. Hope this post brings some light to the issue.
I think it’s unlikely that it’s a bug, since the FSRS code is the same across the apps.
Are you using the same version of Anki (and FSRS) on both devices? If not, that could be why.
If you are, it could be –
Fuzz Factor. It may seem to you like it’s always 1 day on one device and always 2 days on the other, but there will always be variation.
The cards you’re comparing are not as similarly situated as you think they are. Have you compared their Card Info?
Are you certain that all of your subdecks are using the same Deck Options? It’s worth checking.
When was the last time you optimized FSRS?
Are you devices fully in sync through AnkiWeb? [You may have posted here with a different account, so I can’t see your collection through support access.]
If you have more questions about this, post your parameters [as text, please, not a screenshot] – your Anki versions for all your devices – and your learning steps. [It might also be useful to see a screenshot of the Card Info for cards that have been scheduled differently, but unless it’s something obvious like the things I mentioned above, we probably won’t be able to catch it on a random card.]
Maybe I shouldn’t have asked lol if its not a known issue with a simple fix I’m not sure I know Anki well enough nor have the time to figure it all out. Whoopsie!
If it helps you not worry about it, you can think of it like this – FSRS has determined that there is little difference between you seeing a card 1 day later and 2 days later. If that turns out not to be exactly right, you’ll notice it in your retention results, and FSRS will notice it when you re-optimize in a month.
Or, if you want longer intervals, lower your Desired Retention and leave it there. [95% is quite high, and probably higher than you need it to be.]
