Inconsistent "Good" Button Intervals Between Anki Desktop and AnkiDroid

I am experiencing an inconsistency in the intervals shown for the “Good” button when reviewing new cards between the Anki desktop application (on Windows/Mac) and the AnkiDroid app on my phone.

The Problem:

  • On my laptop (Anki desktop), after selecting “Good” on a new card, the next intervals are 1 minute, then 10 minutes, and finally 1 day.

  • On my phone (AnkiDroid), the intervals for the same deck and same card are 15 minutes and then 2 days.

This means the cards graduate with different initial intervals depending on which device I use, which is confusing and affects my study schedule.

What I’ve Checked/Tried:

  1. I have confirmed that both devices are synced to AnkiWeb.

  2. On the desktop, my deck options for “Learning steps” are set to 1m 10m.

Did you check the FSRS versions?

  1. You posted this in the AnkiMobile category, but you’re specifically asking about AnkiDroid, so I moved it. That’s no big deal, but when I looked at your AnkiWeb account [through support access, in case it would help me figure out your issue] – I saw that you’re syncing with AnkiMobile (and desktop on a Mac), but not with AnkiDroid. This confuses me. Do you have a different AnkiWeb account?

  2. Do the 2 cards you’re comparing have the exact same review history? Check the Card Info.

  3. Are the 2 cards you’re comparing in the exact same subdeck? If not, they might not be using the same preset.

  4. Are either of the cards currently in a Filtered deck?

  5. When you talk about what the “next intervals” are for those cards –

  • Is that what each of the grading buttons says? If so, you gave us 3 intervals for the card on desktop and 2 intervals for the card on AnkiDroid, but I’d expect 4 intervals for each. I’m trying to make sure which information is getting left out and why.
  • Or is that what you see on Good after each of the next few reviews?
  1. Have you changed your learning steps recently? When you did, were there a lot of cards already in Learn?
  1. If you’re only/primarily concerned with the intervals when they graduate, and not with the learning steps, the answer is easier. Yes, two cards with the exact same review history can graduate from Learn with different intervals – due to Fuzz Factor.
