I am trying to download a shared deck on AnkiWeb, however, I can’t do this because I don’t have an Anki app to download the deck onto. When I search for Anki on my MacBook Air (see above for specific version I have), I do not recognize any of the other “Anki” apps. Anyone help here? Thank you!
Just download the version from the official website:
https://apps.ankiweb.net/
I tried, and the version of my computer, 10.14.6, won’t let me download it. I am wondering if you or anyone else knows a way around this (without downloading a newer version MacBook Air software).
What do you mean? You clicked on the download link for mac and the download fails? If so, open the dev console and see if an error occured. Maybe you’re blocking something that is needed (although it really just is a link to the package on github).
You’ll likely have to download an older version, owing to your OS. There is a button at the bottom of the page that says ‘change notes and older releases.’
This is macOS Mojave, which was released in 2019.
What do you mean by „won’t let me download it“?
Are you on some restricted (school, company, …) network?
This seems to be the step I am stuck at–yes! But I see tons of older version, and I am confused on which one to download.
Might look at the release notes and, worst-case, try a couple and see which one fits the vagaries of your machine
Can you post the error message that appears when you try to download the most recent version?
Because according to the documentation your laptop should still be supported:
Recent Anki releases require a Mac running macOS 10.13.4 or later.
The last Anki release that supported macOS 10.10 to 10.13.3 was Anki 2.1.35-alternate. If you’re on an old machine, you can obtain the old version from the releases page.
I think that might be outdated information, since the current download page only lists MacOS 11+ and 12+.
I’ve updated the manual to fix this.
