[Bug]: Latest NVIDIA driver (572.16) breaks Vulkan Video Driver

Environment:

  • Anki: 24.06.3
  • OS: Windows 24H2
  • NVIDIA driver: 572.16
  • Anki Video Driver: Vulkan

Issue Description:
After updating to the latest NVIDIA driver (572.16) the Anki app crashes (unexpectedly quits without any info/error messages when executed from terminal) when trying to open any menu that populates new window. (So, basically, Add, Browse, Stats buttons in the toolbar). In all cases the crash sequence is as follows:

  1. Click on a toolbar menu button
  2. A new blank white window appears
  3. Application freezes for approximately 1 second
  4. Anki terminates unexpectedly with no error message

Change video driver setting to any option other than Vulkan fixes the issue (usual behavior as it was before the driver update).

After the rollback to the previous NVDIAD driver (566.36) the issue is also gone - Vulkan and other Video Drivers are functioning regular.

I think it is worth to report this bug to NVIDIA, but I don’t know if this issue happens only on my PC, or Vulkan was broken in some degree for all users in the latest driver update.

How to provide valuable feedback to NVIDIA:

The thing is that I don’t know if it is a bug that affects all users, so I created this thread to possibly get other users feedback. It is quite possible that this issue happens not only on 24.06.3, but also on newer Anki versions.
