I’ve encountered a very unexpected issue with my Anki cards. Very occasionally (once every few months), Anki starts playing a random audio file from my music collection instead of the audio that I recorded for the card. When I check in my media folder, I find that the file with the Anki-type name (eg. rec998394…) is a song from my music collection. I have no idea how this could happen, but it’s occurred frequently enough for me to think that this is some kind of bug. Please advise.
Is it always the same card which plays that audio? Could you just check if you can find that particular file in your media collection?
I don’t think there’s any way for Anki to reach into your music collection for audio files. Is it possible that your music app is making changes to files in your Anki collection.media
? What system/OS do you have this music collection on?
It’s not clear to me from your question –
- When this happens with a note/card, but then you fix the file – does it then happens with a different note/card later? Or if it is happening repeatedly with the same note/card?
- After you fix one, are you doing something to make sure none of the rest of your audio files have this problem? [I’m wondering if something happened at some point, and there are files that still need fixing, or if something is happening again and again.]
- Are these New cards that have this problem the first time you study them, or Review cards that have had the correct audio in the past?
