AttributeError in aqt.preferences on macOS with Anki 23.12

Hello Anki Team,

I am encountering several issues with Anki version 23.12 (55ef11af) on my MacBook with an M2 chip, running macOS 14.2.1. The issues are as follows:

  1. Anki crashes when I try to open Preferences CMD + ,.
  2. The application also crashes when I click the “Browse” tab.
  3. Anki freezes when I click on “About Anki”.

Here is the error message I receive when attempting to open Preferences:

Anki 23.12 (55ef11af) Python 3.9.15 Qt 6.6.1 PyQt 6.6.0 Platform: macOS-14.2.1-arm64-arm-64bit Traceback (most recent call last): File "aqt.main", line 1259, in onPrefs File "aqt", line 136, in open File "aqt.preferences", line 46, in init File "aqt.preferences", line 96, in setup_collection AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'get_preferences'

P.S.: I have already tried reinstalling Anki, and I’ve downloaded the latest stable version from GitHub for my MacBook CPU architecture.

Here is my relevant MacBook info:
Apple M2 Max, 16-inch, 2023, 64 GB.

I would greatly appreciate your assistance in resolving these issues.

Thank you.

There are known problems with Qt 6.6.1 on Mac, which affects Anki 23.12.

You can try the Qt5 version of 23.12. If that doesn’t work satisfactorily, you can temporarily downgrade to 23.10.1
