Attaching multiple images at once

Anyone know how to attach multiple pictures at once? I know it’s petty, but I want to know if there is a way to attach more than one photo onto a card and into a specific field without having to add them one by one into said field. Would love to save me a few extra annoying clicks.

Copy and pasting (or dragging) them via the edit window always makes the images have a much lower resolution. Any ideas? I’ve tried toggling the preferences - editing - Paste clipboard images as PNG and the problem persists.

The image shows how I’ve been attaching images to fields, using the official attach function. But again, it won’t let me select multiple files via the function. And this is the only way it retains image quality.

If it’s any help, I’m using Anki for Mac. Apple Intel 25.02.6

And I review cards on both mac (the app) and the app (iPhone), and the image quality is lower in both.

I don’t see any differences in different resolution when I copy-paste, when I drag-drop, or when I attach via the paperclip. [Using Windows 11, Anki 25.02.] They all attach exactly the same file, at the same size.

  • Are you determining that the resolution is different in the Browse window/note editor? Or looking at the cards in Preview/on the study screen?
  • Are you getting multiple distinct versions of the images added to your collection.media with different resolutions and filenames?

Hello,

In the note editor, I can’t note a difference in resolutions. When I am in the study screen, it is apparent. Some of the resolution changes are worse than others, ranging from I’d say a 5/10 to 9/10 difference.

And yes, I get separate, distinct files (different names) in the collection.media if i paste or drag/drop an image vs attaching it through the attach paperclip.
An example. Paste / drag-drop created a 315kb file in the collection.media folder. Using the attach feature, 528kb.

It’s odd. I mean, it’s not the biggest deal, buts its just ever so more annoying having to take an extra step or two to ensure a quality image for a card.

Those are definitely different then!

I suppose it could be version-related or OS-related. Let’s see who else can reproduce it.

I assume that the attach-by-paperclip method is giving you the original filename and file size. I wonder what the other methods are doing?

Can you open the HTML view of the field (click < > above the field) and show us what you get when you add the image each way? Paste that here as text, please –
```
each in a separate preformatted-text/code-block --
by putting backticks before and after it.
(so the site doesn't eat up the HTML)
```

Give us your full version information too – Anki > About > “Copy Debug Info” – paste that whole thing here.

Again, it isn’t the biggest deal and I don’t want to eat up any of your time. But if you’re willing to help sort it out, you’re awesome.

And perhaps it has to do with my mac. It’s older, a mid 2014, so maybe that’s it.

Hey, I just figured it out. When copying the debug info, there was an Image Resizer add-on listed. There was a setting there and when I disabled it, the problem went away.

Didn’t realize I had an add-on like that. I used Anki a lot five or six years ago and must have installed it then.

Sorry for the bother! And again, I really appreciate the assistance. If not for your guidance, I probably wouldn’t have figured it out.

Thanks!
