Arabic buttons: nouns vs imperatives

There are to ways to translate, for example, “Add” in the deck preview screen:

أضف vs إضافة

I looked at how YouTube, Chrome, Obsidian, Google Play, and Windows 10 do it, and pretty much all of them use the noun form.

Now, I personally find the noun form strange for an action. It could be due to my familiarity with English which uses the imperative (or arguably the base form without “to”). The imperative also has the advantage of being usually shorter.

I noticed that some people on crowdin have translated using the imperative, but the majority of translations are in the noun form.

What do you think? Which one should we use?

I tried to use the noun form consistently on Anki/AnkiDroid, but no strong preference here, and I don’t remember I had a strong reason for that.

I decided to use nouns because it seems to be “the standard”, but I have this additional rule:

يكون الاسم نكرة إذا جاء في زر ويكون معرفة اذا جاء في القوائم والاعدادت وما الى ذلك

إلا اذا كان الاسم ليس مصدرا مثل «متوفر» أو كان مضافا الى .معرفة مثل «حذف الملحوظات». ربما توجد استثناءات اخرى

I use the noun form too, but that is because it appears to be the general approach.

Also, what you perceive as an imperative form in English may often be a verbal noun (e.g. search, browse).
