If you use a custom version or clone of the Image Occlusion note type, creating cards with it in AnkiMobile’s IO editor on iPhone/iPad incorrectly assigns them to the default Image Occlusion note type.
This bug first appeared in version 25.09, which I reported previously, but it still hasn’t been fixed. The issue also persists in version 26.10.
this behavior does not occur on AnkiDroid or the desktop version. AnkiMobile version prior to 25.09 also handled custom Image Occlusion note types correctly.
I was able to reproduce this behavior on AnkiMobile 25.09.
Steps to reproduce:
On Anki Desktop, Tools > Manage Note Types > Add > Clone: Image Occlusion. (name the note type “Testing Image Occlusion clone”)
Sync changes to AnkiWeb.
On AnkiMobile, Sync changes from AnkiWeb.
Within a deck, select Add to add a new note.
If not already selected, change the note Type to “Testing Image Occlusion clone”.
Observe that the Add screen incorrectly says “Tap ‘Type: Image Occlusion’ to switch to normal text/media cards.”
Tap the two-squares icon and add an image file for the occlusion.
Continue to add occlusions to the note and then Save.
Browse the deck to view the newly-added note.
Observe that the note type for the newly-added note incorrectly says “Image Occlusion”.
Sync changes to AnkiWeb.
On Anki Desktop, Sync changes from AnkiWeb.
In the Browse window, view the newly-added note.
Observe that the note type for the newly-added note created in AnkiMobile is “Image Occlusion”. (The note type is actually incorrect. It was not just a UI/visual bug.)
On Anki Desktop, add a new note using the “Testing Image Occlusion clone” note type and view it in the Browse window.
Observe that the note type for the newly-added note created in the Anki desktop app is correctly “Testing Image Occlusion clone”. (There is no bug on Anki desktop.)
