I can’t figure out how to have 2 different styles for 2 different card sets. Ankidroid is already very complicated. I have simple words, 1 word per card that should be centered. Then the definitions with example sentences and that should be left aligned and a smaller font size. I tried with “Card Types” but again I have no idea how to do what I want to do. Either a deck should use some style and I can’t find that or a card should use a style but that doesn’t seem to work either.
I searched for a couple days and can’t find anything related to my problem. I tried one thing and it just duplicated all cards and made them the “back”.
The templates used in card types needs to get changed. It’s not a deck-related thing. If you can be more clear about what exactly you want to do, perhaps someone can help in editing the templates.
Styling is determined by note type settings. The settings you determine for, say, a ‘basic’ card type will carry over to all cards that use that note type.
If you want two different styles you’ll have to apply them to different note types, or to different versions of a note type.
I tried doing that and it doesn’t work. 1 just overrides the other. I’ll look at all the links and read through it but Ankidroid is just so overly complicated that nothing seems to be simple. I wish you could just apply 1 style per deck but it doesn’t seem to be like that at all.
That video was like 11 years old. I’m using Ankidroid and I’m starting to think that Ankidroid is somehow a dumbed down version of the desktop version. Should I switch to the desktop version and would anything on the desktop work on Ankidroid?
I’m also not using the back of the card. Just the front.
I’m not sure what video you’re referring to. But, style is not controlled by deck; rather it’s controlled by note settings.
For sure it’s likely to be easier to make edits from a desktop, in most cases. There are specifications for mobile settings and the like that can be used.
It’s an open-source software maintained for free; some of the bells and whistles are what they are, particularly for requests like deck-specific styling.
I’m not unhappy. I’m just trying to figure it out. I’ll read more of the documentation and download the desktop version and try to navigate all that. Thanks for the assistance. I’ll ask a more specific question when I have it.
The intro videos are still relevant even though the UI has changed in many cases. You can also simply read through the Getting Started section. It was last updated a month or two ago.
Most features of Anki are already available in the Android client.
Create a new note type.
If you’re dividing your cards by content, you often need different “stylings” in the same deck. The current situation isn’t very complicated. You want a new note type with different styling and use it for one set of your cards.
