AnkiDroid auto advance

I have cards with TTS on the back and no TTS on the front. I tried to set auto advanceb(Seconds to show question for) to 10s with question action set to show answer but it is not working. It also doesn’t appear to work when I remove the TTS from the back of the cards.

I have tried this with all 4 combinations of the D"on’t play audio automatically" and “Skip question when replaying answer” settings with “Wait for audio” both enabled and disabled as I read some of these settings may be relevant here.

What else may I be doing wrong? I am in 23.3.0alpha4, but this hasn’t worked on various other versions too.

You are writing about the Auto Advance settings. But nothing about whether you have activated Auto Advance or not.

That makes sense. It wasn’t obvious to me that I’d need to toggle the mode there.

When auto advance is activated, the number of seconds to wait before applying the question action. Set to 0 to disable.

To me this help text implied setting to a non-zero value enabled auto advance, and it isn’t intuitive to me that enable/disable differs from activated/deactivated.

It’d also be nice if I didn’t have to toggle this on every review session.

Toggling it on every session is standard across the Anki on all platforms. It eliminates the risk that you’ll open a deck, get districted, and it will take off studying-and-grading by itself.
