In my highschool, for some reasons, they blocked a specific request that makes impossible the synchronisation to complete on the app but the anki web-app is completly working fine. Is there a way to make my app working again?
If your school blocked access to it then you’d have to ask them to unblock the request needed for synchronization. If they won’t, maybe they have a very good reason for that.
Or you could use your own network connection (like mobile data) instead of your schools wifi network.
You could also try to use a VPN, but check with your network policies before doing it as often I saw that they’re not allowed to use any VPN or proxies.
I’d ask a friend with cellular data to sync with Anki as well, if you have a friend of course.
The thing is I don’t really know the specific request they are blocking, again because the website works but not the app. You know, I think they have a bunch of adresses that are blocked…
For advanced users, the only way to find out is to use some type of program that does network sniffing if any of the Anki domains is blocked by your school.
I wish I can do that but can’t reproduce it as I’m in a different place
You should talk to someone in IT at your school. They might not be able to help you, but you’re not doing something strange or unusual. You’re trying to use an educational app for educational purposes. If it’s possible to unblock AnkiWeb for syncing, they should do that.
But I don’t think a network administrator will actually say anything to the student as staff in every school board will use any information as a malicious intent, even asking for an Anki domain.
But it’s worth a try!
I think you have a much more cynical view of folks who work in education than I do.
Welcome to our school system full of kids who doesn’t follow rules but instead abuse them whenever they can
