When I double-click on the Anki icon, an Anki Launcher window opens in Terminal instead of launching the actual Anki app. I’ve tried reinstalling multiple times, deleting /Applications/Anki.app, clearing Launch Services, and downloading the latest version (24.10, macOS Apple Silicon).
I also followed the steps on the “When problems occur” page, but the issue persists — Terminal still launches that “Anki Launcher” menu every time.
Here’s what I’ve already tried:
-
Deleted all Anki files from /Applications, ~/Library/Application Support/AnkiLauncher, and caches.
-
Reinstalled from the website
-
Renamed the new app (“Anki Clean.app”).
-
Ran LaunchServices reset commands.
Despite this, the launcher still appears, and I can’t open Anki normally.
Does anyone know how to fully remove or bypass the Anki Launcher on macOS?
(System info: macOS [15.6.1], Apple Silicon M2, Anki 24.10 dmg build.)
