Hi, i recently upgraded from intel mac to the M chip macbook air and so required a newer version of anki. After downloading the latest app from their website my app is not opening. It shows this python etc error.. what do i do cuz i have no idea what this means. Any help is appreciated
I recommend that you install either one of these newer, beta versions of Anki by downloading the .dmg file and replacing the older version you are currently trying to use. Doing this should fix your issue:
26.05 Beta 1
It should work as-is.
26.05 Beta 2
And then, run this command in the Terminal app which simply renames a directory from “lib” to "libs:
mv /Applications/Anki.app/Contents/Resources/app_packages/anki_audio/lib /Applications/Anki.app/Contents/Resources/app_packages/anki_audio/libs
Beta 2 is the most recent version, but it introduced a small bug that prevents Anki from playing audio. The issue can be fixed by simply renaming a directory. But, if you don’t feel confident using Terminal commands, you can install the slightly-older Beta 1 instead which will work as-is.
Okay. Thank you for installing one of the beta versions of Anki. I see now that the problem is not one of the usual issues that other people have seen when switching from Intel to Apple Silicon. The problem is different.
Could you please try Troubleshooting Step #2, Check Add-ons, by starting Anki in Safe Mode? Safe Mode disables add-ons. If it allows you to run Anki without seeing the problem then that would indicate that one of your add-ons is the the culprit.
