Anki application will not open on my new mac

Hey,

I’ve been using Anki for just over a year now on my old 2017 Intel Macbook Air however recently have upgraded to a 2024 M3 Macbook Air and ever since migrating all my data over to the new laptop Anki will not open.

I have tried deleting all Anki files and reinstalling the latest version however same thing happens. I found someone else’s forum post an saw that Anki is potentially downloading the Intel version of python but not sure what do do from here. I have just downloaded an older version and seems to work fine. Was wondering if this is a known issue and if it will be fixed?

If you need help running the latest version of Anki, please run the Anki launcher from the Terminal app, so you can see the error messages: /Applications/Anki.app/Contents/MacOS/launcher

Searching the forum for the specific error messages might lead you to a solution. Or, if you need further help, please copy/paste the error messages here.

(Otherwise, if just running the older version of Anki is acceptable to you, doing so would a possible workaround.)
