This issue happens sometimes while I’m studying new cards (I’m not sure if it also happens when reviewing). If I click the Sync button at the top of the window, the current card counter goes down and the card is skipped, showing me a new one instead. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
That doesn’t sound like it’s getting “skipped” – it sounds like it’s getting updated with new scheduling.
- Do you have any add-ons that run actions on-sync or after-sync?
- Are you careful to make sure that you sync when you open the app, and when you close/leave the app, on every device, every time?
I only have the Jlab add-on (2110939339), but I don’t think it’s causing the problem. I always sync my decks whenever I open or close the app, both on Android and on desktop (macOS). Also, whenever I get distracted, I like being able to pick up exactly where I left off, whether on Android or desktop, regardless of which device I was using when I was interrupted. That’s partly how I discovered the issue (bug?): despite my best efforts, sometimes I notice that the app (at least the desktop version) skips to the next card instead of staying on the current one after it syncs in the middle of a study session. Or as you said, the current card gets updated with new scheduling.
It would be normal for the study-session queue to rebuild when you sync. It’s probably best to exit to the main Decks list when you decide to take a break from your study session, and you can sync then. On desktop, it’s as simple as the shortcut keys, D to the Decks list and Y to sync – that’s what I do whenever I’m taking a break. On AnkiDroid, tap Android’s “back” buton twice to do the same thing.
If you don’t think it’s an add-on, you should consider what actually is changing. Have you searched up that card to see if its scheduling changed? Look at its Card Info to see if it had a grade recorded, or a new due date set. The most common time you’d see something like this is when you’re studying a New or Review card, and a Learn/Relearn card reaches the end of its step delay. When the study queue is rebuilt, that card is the priority.
I have seen and am seeing that behaviour too. As @Danika_Dakika suggested, return to main list of Decks first, and then choose sync.
