Anki become blurry after some time

Sometimes, all of the sudden Anki UI get very blurry, like it’s on low resolution. Others programs or the system inteface keeps normal, just Anki shows like this. I’m using a Lenovo LOQ notebook on Windows 11.

Version ⁨24.11 (87ccd24e)⁩
Python 3.9.18 Qt 6.6.2 PyQt 6.6.1

Just the opened windows at the time get blurry, when opening other windows it’s normal. Also, it resolves after restarting Anki, just asking if there is a permanent solution for this.

  1. Is it just the font that gets blurry or other ui elements as well?
  2. Did you try Troubleshooting - Anki Manual (maybe #6 is the culprit)?
  3. Can you run anki in a terminal with safemode (something along the lines of anki --safemode) and paste the output here?

Interesting, I’ve noticed this too on Windows 11. Usually it’s after it’s been open a long time and I come back to it after waking from hibernate. I figured it might be because I have two monitors? I just close it and open it back up. I haven’t tried to troubleshoot it.

This happens to me when I switch between my laptop screen and docking with my monitors – same resolution, but different display scale.

If you do anything to redraw the window – like drag one edge slightly to resize it – does it go away?

At first I thought this topic meant, “I’ve been studying too long and things are starting to blur!” :exploding_head:

Yes, I made some tests plugging and unplugging the cable of my other monitor and it gets blurry instantly, so I think it’s related to this.

Yes, forcing the screen to redraw solves the problem. Way better than having to restart the application entirely.

Thank you guys!
