Anki automatically resetting preferences

Hello All,

To start, I am using Anki on Mac and Anki App for iPhone. I have been having a weird issue with certain settings that I have changed being reset every time I sync, immediately (like before I even close the program). I mainly use the Anking deck for med school/board prep.

The issues:
First - I have tried to recode the styling (pre built code, not by me) to show different colors for the key words on the slides. Every time I sync, it auto resets to only blue and italicized/bold

Second - for the “extras” for each card (sketch, boards and beyond, first aid, etc) a friend showed me how to get the extras to show automatically without clicking on each one. I changed the “back template” section from “false” to “true” for the extras I want to automatically populate, but it keeps resetting to all “false.”

All my other preferences have stayed saved (old cards first, time to see next card, etc.). I have classmates with both PC and Mac that do not have this issue. I have tried to do these revisions on my Mac, not my iPhone, if that makes a difference.

I looked over the troubleshooting and FAQ’s but I’m not too sure where to start. Thanks for any help!

The thing those 2 have in common is they are parts of the note type that you got from AnKing, and which is probably getting updated through AnkiHub, a process that is also happening when you sync.

I think you should search the AnkiHub support pages, because protecting changes on the note type/templates must be a common need. If you can’t find anything that solves your issue, their AnkiHub Community forum – https://community.ankihub.net/ – is a good place to ask.
