Anki 25.01/02 Beta/RC

would be nice if betas/RCs could be installed under another program ID (&db) so they can be tested separately from the stable releases

I notice that Anki has been a bit “slower” as I review my cards. It is not as quick as before loading the cards as I peruse them.

Bug involving 24.11 and 25.01

In debian sid with the beta the window sizes of the browse cards window and stats window resize back to their initial value after restarting anki (works on debian oldstable with current stable).

Same happens if I change the profile. The window that was filling the entire screen before switching the profile is resized to its initial small size.

I found a way to solve this issue but no idea if that’s best practice in this case. If someone could check it, it’d be much appreciated:

(also @Anon_0000 and any other people who do translations)

I created a PR for adding new translation strings. Please comment there if you agree / disagree so Dae can know what translators would prefer.

This bug is also there on MacOS, it usually happens when I start Anki. I haven’t found a way to reproduce this however. This goes away on changing windows though.

Anki is supposed to remember zoom levels after restarting?

Thought it was the intended behaviour

I don’t believe that’s a zoom level. Zoom levels don’t have black borders, do they? I close Anki, and once I open it again, occasionally it shows a much smaller viewable area although the mode is fullscreen. It’s almost exactly what @vaibhav sent, except its centred.

I run

OS: Ubuntu 24.10 x86_64
Kernel: 6.11.0-13-generic
DE: GNOME 47.0
WM: Mutter

The beta is a black screen for me

I downgraded to the stable release and it works again

Can you run anki --safemode in a terminal and paste the output here, please?
Also, please try these: Blank Main Window - Anki Manual

Based on the provided information, it sounds more like a hardware or OS related issue, and I replied to the mentioned topic with a few suggestions to try.

Following these instructions I found that the issue is the Vulkan driver is broken in the latest version, software and opengl worked

Running anki using the vulkan driver I get this

kolby@kolby-ubuntu:~/.dotfiles$ anki --safemode
Anki starting...
Initial setup...
Preparing to run...
Wayland support is disabled by default due to bugs:

You can force it on with an env var: ANKI_WAYLAND=1

Likely an issue with gpu drivers, not anki

If it works on anki 24.1, but not the beta. I think there is a issue with the beta. That is called a regression, the gpu driver didn’t change.

To clarify, this specific error message is showing up in a lot of other forums that also involve qt 6.8, so it sounds like an upstream issue. Possibly related to hardware acceleration and wayland

One of them suggests trying QTWEBENGINE_CHROMIUM_FLAGS="--disable-gpu-compositing"

Thanks for the great works.

In Pontoon, I can’t find the strings for the following parts surrounded by the orange squares in the graph of FSRS simulator. ( In { $days } days for “Future Due” statistics exists there, but it doesn’t seems to be applied here.)

Will it be possible to localize/translate them in the near future?
