Since Anki 2.5.x the comparison in Japanese does not work correctly (the で should be green in both strings):

How do you fare with the 2.1.57 release?

Since Anki 2.5.x anki often, but not always mangles Japanese input:
This is what I input:
ここは成田と言うえきです
This is what it shows in the answer window:
Possibly related to Anki 2.1.56: Incorrect comparison of two Japanese strings
Both comparison and display worked correctly pre-2.5.x as well as on the iOS version
Thanks. Unfortunately, the problem also seems to occur on the 2.1.57 release:
Version 2.1.57 (6b7d372c)
Python 3.9.15 Qt 6.4.2 PyQt 6.4.0
However, it seems to be much less frequent, I’ve observed it only once in 110 cards that I’ve just done (cf. screenshot). I’ve not observed any mangled Japanese display.
For what it is worth, I normally use Anki via the flathub version, which is still at 2.1.56. 2.1.57 I’ve installed directly from https://apps.ankiweb.net/
What exactly is incorrect? It looks like you entered half-width spaces when typing the text in, when the field contains full width spaces.
The “red” for the spaces is indeed correct. However, I think the す should be green.
The message implies you accidentally skipped the su when typing in the answer. If I enter すきな のみものを えらんで 下さい
, this is what I get:
Having now worked with the flathub version of Anki 2.1.57 for a while, I indeed couldn’t reproduce the problem, so it seems that everything works again for the handling of Japanese input and comparison. Thanks a lot for your help!
