Yes, it’s the opposite of LTR, because I replaced left
and right
with inline-start
and inline-end
in response to this comment:
LTR
Release candidate 2 is now available. If no serious issues are found, this will hopefully be released as stable in a few days.

RTL-The three menus in the editor - not related to the first running.
All other RTL issues that were on first run have been resolved .
Those will likely be fixed in 2.1.56. They’re caused by the toolbar having a hard-coded direction.
The deck option windows does not save the maximized status.
I always open it, I click maximize it, but when I return it remains in the original smaller window.
I noticed this is a problem only with the qt5 version; qt6 works just fine.
Until version .54, if we had more than one profile created in Anki, when opening Anki, a window appeared asking which profile we wanted to select.
In these versions .55 beta1…rc2 it opens directly in the last used profile.
Was this prosital or is it a mistake?
In old versions of Anki, when we selected to delete a deck and it had cards, a window appeared asking for confirmation of deletions.
In these .55 versions it deletes without asking. Is this right?
It’s an intentional change. I can only guess as we haven’t polled the userbase, but I’d say most users will benefit from this behaviour.
This is on purpose. It’s documented in the changelog of Beta 1: Changes in 2.1.55 - Anki Betas
I know I have seen a few reports of a lot of flickering in the 2.1.55 betas, but I don’t recall whether any developer has been able to reproduce. I just want to let you know that it is still in beta 2.1.55rc2 on Mac Intel using QT 6. Sometimes it seems sporadic and hard to reproduce, but I found one situation where I seem to be able to reproduce it easily. I line up the Add window next to the Decks window, and move the mouse (no clicking) between the deck and a field name in the Add window. In this case, the flickering can be pretty severe, and I captured it on video so you can see what I mean:
2.1.55 was released as stable today. Changes since rc2:
- Fixed the Mac build shipping the wrong Qt version, which explains @garrettm30’s report
- Reverted the change where changes to media files are scanned for on every sync, since this can get quite slow.
- Fixed the sync spinner not showing when media is syncing
Thanks to everyone for testing! Please report any new issues you encounter with the stable release on a new thread.
@Zaldroc I’ve logged your issue here: Editor jumps to top of window when enabling HTML editor in Qt5 · Issue #2271 · ankitects/anki · GitHub
Nice work, guys. Thanks for listening the community.
Yes, thanks to Dae, Kleinerpirat, Rumo, Hgiesel, Hikaru, Abdo, Glutaminate and all others who have contributed for doing such a great job, as usual.
This ended up as a really nice release! Thanks to everyone for all your hard work
Wouldn’t putting the Calendar after Today in the order of tiles save vertical space on screens where the statistic boxes are shown in rows of two?
Any thoughts? I tried fixing some margin symmetry and text alignment issues, as well as thickening the separator line.
The buttons at the bottom of the screen are also too round, almost as if they were meant for tablet users.
The font on the “Congratulations…” screen when you have finished a deck is thin and only takes up a small fraction of the screen width.
Compared to light mode, the deck highlight when hovering over it is very dark.
When hovering over a deck and pressing the settings icon, the hover disappears, only leaving the residual hover of the last opened deck / first deck (if none have been opened yet)
Many of these aren’t new in this version, they have just been amplified by the changes in the styling
