Anki 2.1.50 Beta 3-5

This always pops up whenever I click on a card in Browse:

Another weird thing: a large number of cards look like this in Browse:

But I can still see the content after clicking on it.

Update 1: after I ran install for 2.1.49 and then restarted 2.1.50, neither of the aforementioned occurred.

Update 2: This happened after around 15 min of use:

Guys, about this, is it a bug?

You can reproduce by creating multiple clozes as a test.

It is not clear to me exactly what you are reporting. Maybe a short video would help. And are you reporting an issue with these betas in particular, or does the issue exist in previous Anki versions as well?

Both using Ctrl + Shift + C

Unfortunately, I could not test the QT5 version. Strangely does not open on my computer.

EDIT: I was able to reproduce the error on Anki Linux qt6 and qt5, beta 4

Another error I encountered was when entering fullscreen mode and producing response delays. This time, I can not record, because Anki apparently closes the recording and produces crashes. qt6 beta4

Thanks, I’ve added it to Cloze and MathJax chem place cursor at end · Issue #1687 · ankitects/anki · GitHub

I can’t seem to reproduce the full screen problems; they may depend on your video driver/video card.

Bug Report:

Problem:

  • Using Preview in the browse screen causes an error after the preview window is closed, and prevents Anki from being closed (except if using Force Quit) (Prevents both Browse and Main Screen from being closed).

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open the Browse window
  2. Click on the Preview button (or use cmd-shift-p)
  3. Exit the Preview window

Expected Result:

  • Open a Preview window in Browse and close it without error.

Actual Behavior:

  • Throws this error:

The changes to flag handling in (I think) 1871b576 seem to break flag changes in the card browser (as of 5eefb9be):

  1. start with 4 cards shown by flag:1
  2. try to remove (two) flags via hotkey or mouse – no effect on the browser (ie., not shown as previously with their BG coloring instantly removed)
  3. search for flag:1 again, now they’re seemingly gone
  4. immediately restart Anki – they’re back as flagged

This in safemode with a prior database check.

The changes from 2. seem to only get applied when some other (note) edit takes place afterwards.

(Also: Same issue with the webview being already deleted when preview tries to close, just via different tracebacks.)

Same here also Windows 10

When toggle fullscreen

  • browser, add card, add deck, stats are flickering (not that white flickering :joy: @dae)
  • The menus file, edit, view, tools not opening
  • when reviewing cards. more button not opening also

I’m so happy with the 2.1.50 it’s gonna be a masterpiece

One thing I would also recommend @Rumo @dae

I want you to look at browser behavior in 2 anki version

  • 2.1.29
When I open the browser there’s no card field appearing.
    (1) the only thing that appear is the side bar

  • 2.1.50
When I open the browser there’s
    (1) card field appears
    (2) side bar appears
    (3) the (text, extra) field appears - the field we add notes in -

I believe this is so frustrating and gives a feeling that the browser is laggy or slow if using a large decks. and feels that we have to wait for many things to appear to get a functional browser

I would suggest the browser behavior like 2.1.29 it would be great

Thanks again for your great work

By default the current is shown in the browser, but you can customise this in the preferences. If you want the browser opening without showing any cards, you’ll have to put some search there that doesn’t match anything, like cid:0.

Beta 5 is now available: Changes in 2.1.50 - Anki Betas

I would like to tell you about the inconveniences after using the beta version of Anki 2.1.50 (Beta 5).

When Anki 2.1.50 beta version (Beta 5) was installed, zoom function was added. As a result of using it, I found the following problem.

  1. Anki 2.1.50 beta version zoom function was very slow.
(The sensitivity of the Anki zoom addon is much faster and better.)
  2. The keyboard shortcut function of Anki 2.1.50 beta version zoom is poor. (I couldn’t zoom in and out with the ctrl ± keyboard shortcut.)
  3. Anki 2.1.50 beta version could not see the percentage of zoom. (Anki zoom addon shows the percentage of zoom in the lower left corner.)
  4. Awesome tts addon does not work in Anki 2.1.50 beta.
(Personally, I wish the tts function was added as a basic function.)

It would be great if the above problems could be improved.

I always care and love Anki.

I hope you can reply.

ps. And when will Anki 2.1.50 be released approximately?

It already is: Text to Speech

@adham why did you delete your post? It looks like a legitimate bug in Anki.

@hanbin depends how many more problems people report with the betas

Anki 2.1.50 (beta 5) on Windows 10:

If I go to the Browser > View > Toggle Full Screen, all of the top buttons (Edit, View, Notes, Cards, Go, Help) become completely unresponsive until I exit full-screen mode.

You are exactly right. Currently, if you use ctrl + scroll wheel, it is changed to a too small size.

The anki zoom addon has just the right sensitivity, and I agree with it because a lot of people use it.

Also, the keyboard shortcut function of Anki 2.1.50 beta zoom is not good. (You couldn’t zoom in/out with ctrl ± keyboard shortcuts.)

If it is not possible because of the existing shortcut key, why not set it as a shift± shortcut key?

Finally, Anki 2.1.50 beta doesn’t see the zoom ratio. (Anki zoom addon shows zoom ratio in bottom left corner.)
The zoom ratio increases the user’s intuition.

There is an additional feature I would like to suggest.

When a button is pressed, I wish there was a notification showing which button was pressed.

There are many good add-ons that help with this function, but I think this should be inserted as a basic function.

Is it a reflectable function?

  1. In the dark mode, press f11 to set it to full screen mode and study the card.
There is blinking on the first and second cards.
