I would like to review and review again one of my decks, but allways the same cards are proposed to me.
I allways create custom study sections, with many days ahead, to review again, but allways the same cards are asked to me (or the juste change a little). How to get a totally random selection of all the cards so as to review all of them?
You can go into “Custom study”, select “Review ahead” option and put a large number in the number of days (like “9999”). It should pull all review cards from a deck into a custom study session.
Hi!
Thanks for your answer.
As I said, I already create custom study sessions, puting 9999 days.
But it is allways the same cards that are shown to me. I would like to review the entire deck, but even with you trick, it does not work…
There’s only so much variety you can get out of 200 cards. But what “Order” are you setting for your Filtered/Custom Study deck? Filtered Decks - Anki Manual
I tried all the options:Oldest, Random, Increasing intervals, decreasing, most lapses, order added, order due, latest, relative.
Allways the same cards. It really does not seem to be random in any case.
I did rebuild it each time I tested a new option. I did not empty it because it is created when I launch a custom study session. There is no option “empty”: I can only delete it and create a new one.
A Custom Study deck is just a Filtered deck that is created from a list of options, instead of by scratch. If you go to the deck’s page, there are buttons to Empty and Rebuild it.
Well, I tried it: I emptied it and rebuild this custom study deck many times.
I even saw an option “enable a second filter”, and I also tried that. A random one. I also changed the first filter to random.
But none of these methods worked: in this custom session (options “review ahead / 999 days”), the cards asked were always the ~6 or 8 same cards (over 30 cards in the deck).
Even after answering correctly many times to this 6 or 8 custom session cards, Anki never changes to all the other ~22 or 24 cards left.
Hi!
Thanks again for your answers.
I actually had other filtered/custom decks (see hereunder) still active.
I deleted them and now it works, the cards of a custom session come in a random order from the entire deck.
(Maybe these left decks came from the fact that I had changed the langage to english so as to be able to talk to you with the same words…)
Thanks a lot!
PS: so I did not try the other methods you proposed. If you think I should, please tell me!:
Right next to your search filter, click the blue “Search” – what cards do you see in the Browse window?
Then change that search filter to is:due deck:Odonates – any difference in Browse?
What are you sibling burying settings for that home deck and its subdecks? (this one I did not understand it even after translating in French).
No, it sounds like you got to the right place. A card can only be in one Filtered/Custom Study deck, so if you had other decks that you hadn’t emptied, that solves it.
