Urgent Request to Recover Deleted AnkiWeb Account

Hello AnkiWeb Support,

I believe my AnkiWeb account may have been deleted due to inactivity over my summer break. I recently returned to using Anki for my studies and was shocked to discover that my account and decks were no longer available.

My original account was registered under cjsidon1@gmail.com (or it’s possible that it was under cjsidon@icloud.com). I created a new account using the same email address to see if that would help restore access, but I still need to recover my original account and, most importantly, all of my saved decks and study materials.

I have put a significant amount of time into building and organizing these decks, and they are extremely important for my studies. I would be incredibly grateful if you could help me recover my original account and its data, if possible.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do or any information I can provide to help with the recovery process.

The account connected to that gmail address was just created for the first time today, so it won’t help you recover anything. You should delete that account so it doesn’t confuse you in the future.

I’m looking at the account connected to that icloud address. I don’t know if this is the “original” account you’re looking for, because it doesn’t match what you describe. It was created in 2023, but it was last used in Sept 2025. The data was deleted in March 2026, because it had been inactive for at least 6 months – but it looks like the account was already empty at that point. This account also has no history of syncing with any of the apps.

  1. Were you using only accessing your collection directly on the AnkiWeb site? Or were you also using your synced collection in one of the installed apps – Anki, AnkiMobile, AnkiDroid?

  2. It seems possible that you have another AnkiWeb account, and you just need to figure out what email address it is connected to –

    • Check any device(s) you have used Anki on. You’ll see your account email address in Preferences > Syncing.
    • Check your email accounts for confirmation messages you would have received from ankiweb.net.
    • Go to https://ankiweb.net/account/settings and see if you have your credentials saved in your browser/cookies.
