Just as in the title - I have vocab cards where I type in the answer (in French) and I think it’s saying the blanks literally.
- Is this a cloze note type with type-answer added, or something else?
- “I think it’s saying the blanks literally” – what is it saying?
- Since you’re asking specifically about AnkiDroid – are you using legacy AnkiDroid-only
<tts>
tags, or the all-platform{{tts ...}}
feature?
Hi there, it’s card type “basic (type in the answer)”
And it’s the TTS option under Settings → Advanced → Plugins
I’ve attached screenshots of both.
Finally, I made some cards and turned on TTS in English as I certainly understand it better!
Front was “What is this” and back was “test” and for the front it sounds like it’s saying “What is this type: back” and on the answer reveal it does not say the answer but just “type: back”.
Sorry I missed your response!
Yes, that is basic read-the-card functionality, and it isn’t integrated with any other features of the app.
I think you’ll find this works much better if you disable that and use TTS functionality in your card templates – Field Replacements - Anki Manual .
