Uncomfortable using new split-screen in editor

Hello.

This morning I discover a new presentation.

The screen is devided by vertcical border in two parts.

For me the right part is completely useless because I onle beed blocks of revision and not a summary.

I can’t find how to place frequency of révisions on top of screen because when I click on bottom, it opens other functions on my pad. Before I put frequency on top and not possible now.

When I want to modify a card, I have again a two parts screen. The right one just with the word and all the rest on the left side. It severly complicates the modification. Few line are now the double, logical because of half screen.

I prefered the precedent presentation but I can(t find how to do.

What is the necessity to complicate things and to impose a way to use your progam ?

It worked very well.

Why to not give the choose to user ?

Thanks

You’re like the third person so far complaining about the new split mode for tablets. See also:

I appreciate all the hard work that went into doing the tabs, and unfortunately, it isn’t helpful for me. Especially in the edit screen, the old version works a lot better for me. I am lower vision, so everything is blown up. Losing a part of the screen makes both sides unusable. (See attached) Yes, I can flip to portrait mode, but then I lose half the card top to bottom. I’d appreciate having the option to turn this off, especially in the edit screen.

i agree i used to study from images in my cards but the split makes it very difficult

There isn’t currently any way to disable the split-screen preview in the note editor, but the developers are aware of the concerns.

I also agree with the OP, it would be great having the option to disable the new split editor.

Heard you loud & clear. Sorry for the inconvenience!

For an immediate fix, please see: FAQ · ankidroid/Anki-Android Wiki · GitHub

2.23.3 Parallel.A can be downloaded here and installs alongside 2.24: Release AnkiDroid 2.23.3 · ankidroid/Anki-Android · GitHub

I have proposed the following:

  • Investigating a patch for 2.24.X, which increases the minimum screen width required for the previewer
    • It may appear only in landscape mode
  • An expedited 2.25 release, including a toggle for the side-by-side preview

I have the same issue, got a link to here sent to me after asking on reddit. I hope they fix it
