UI Bug on Card Change

Bug Report: There is a UI issue where sometimes the next card is not shown even though it has actually been advanced to. If you mouse over the main card area, that triggers the UI to render the new card. But otherwise it just looks like you’re still on the previous card even though you’re not.

I have a screen recording that shows this behavior, but I’m not able to upload it as a new user.

I’m on Windows 11 with the latest version of Anki, but I’ve been experiencing this for a long time - probably more than a year. I’ve noticed it on multiple Windows devices, though I don’t use other ones often enough to say whether it’s an issue outside Windows or not.

On the study screen? Try Troubleshooting - Anki Manual, especially #6.

I’m re-posting this bug report I made a while back as I found a workaround and want to get it on the record for others.

Workaround————

Using the OpenGL video driver under Tools→Preferences→Appearance worked for me to fix this. I’m considering it a workaround rather than “fixed” or “working as intended” because I think the Direct3D driver should work properly.

This is actually the commonly recommended workaround for the issue.

There’s no need to make a separate post for that. It’s not a “workaround” – it’s the solution, and it’s the same thing that was suggested to you.
