TTS reading the "c1" cloze tag

When AnkiDroid reads out a field containing a cloze, it reads out the c1 part (or other number) of the cloze tag. For example, it reads “In a hole in the {{c1::ground}}” as “In a hole in the c1 ground”. Is there a way to avoid this without duplicating the entire field minus the cloze tag?

It reads as “In a hole in the blank” to me. Are you using the deprecated “Text to speech” advanced setting? Try adding the following to your template:

{{tts en_US:cloze:Field name goes here}}

You can also add hints to your cloze deletions like In a hole in the {{c1::ground::noun}} and it will read “In a hole in the noun” instead.

I’m using this tts tag: {{tts en_US:Front}}

But I’m not trying to have it say blank in place of the word, I want it to read the entire sentence as if there were no cloze - “In a hole in the ground”. I’m using it only on the back side of the card, where the answer has already been revealed.

Using {{tts en_US:cloze:Front}} on the back side should work then.
