Is it possible to simply sync between AnkiDroid and Anki on Windows with Syncthing?
I am syncing lots of data between my Android phone, my Linux server, and my Windows tablet with Syncthing anyhow. So I thought I just add the Anki profile into the mix. However, I am worried about database incompatibilities. avidseeker on GitHub mentions that in a tutorial for AnkiDroid with Syncthing.
It seems like the same cautions about 3rd-party syncing mentioned in the manual would apply to your idea. Managing Files - Anki Manual
Thanks! I appreciate the detailed advice. For now, I decided to stick with syncing to my AnkiWeb account.
(I still keep one of my Anki database locations synced by Syncthing, because then it gets uploaded to my server and from there into regular backups.)
