When I add a cloze deletion to a cloze card, it erases the formatting of the text inside the cloze (e.g. boldface, italics, …). When there is only a single cloze, this is irrelevant. But on a card with multiple clozes, this can be relevant, since the formatting is shown on the siblings where the cloze is ‘inactive’.
Perhaps it is possible to make it so that adding a cloze deletion retains the formatting of the text? Now, I have to add the formatting after inserting the cloze deletions—but it would be more practical if the reverse order is also possible.
After experimenting a bit more, I’ve discovered that the formatting IS preserved if you select the relevant text plus a space before or after it—but it is not if you do not include the space.
For example: If I select ’ Paris’ or 'Paris ’ (with a space in front or behind) in ‘The city Paris is the capital of France’, then Paris will remain boldfaced inside the cloze deletion. If I select exactly ‘Paris’ (without any additional space in front or behind), then it will not.
Perhaps there are more variations. I don’t know the underlying mechanisms, of course, so I don’t know why this is the case, nor do I know whether there is an easy fix for this irregular behavior.
