Normal notes are great when you know, for sure, the number of things you need.
For example, 1 phase (to and from) 1 audio clip
caliente ↔ audio pronunciation of “caliente”
Clozes are great when the number of things you need is highly variable.
For example
Field | Data |
---|---|
Phrase | vestragon |
Participle | vestreta |
Type | Consonant-final |
Defs |
|
(Phrase ↔ Participle), (Phrase → Type), and (Participle → Type) are all great.
But Defs are tricky, because there can be any number of them.
This is where I like clozes because,
- Only 1 field in the note instead of adding 10 “def” fields for that 1 card that needs all 10
- I can break up the information however I want.
Ex. testing the for the case instead of the translation
to say something […] to someone else (dative)
But, cloze type notes don’t only allow you to make cloze type cards. Which means, you need a 2nd note. But:
- Now you can’t reference a field from the original if there is any info you would like to add to the def cards. (media could be referenced but text couldn’t, as far as I’m aware)
- I don’t know if this is true but it doesn’t seem efficient to save that information twice in 2 different notes, storage-wise.
If you could designate a field as a “cloze field” would you have a use for it?
- Idk
- Yes
- Maybe
- No
