[solved] Make Reposition Work in Notes Mode

I’ve previously suggested changes to reposition and noted how it’s an important feature for deck authors.

As you study your cards, if you notice some questions are missing there’s no way for you to know whether the deck author made those cards or not unless you go to the Browse screen to search.

Ordering cards according to the textbook is a good chunk of what I do with my shared decks. And given I have a lot of sibling-heavy notes, repositon from the “Notes mode” seem easier than “cards mode”. Let’s say if I’m repositioning tons of IO cards, it doesn’t matter what order the individual cards appear in, but the order among the notes does matter.

Can we make the “reposition” feature work even in notes mode? In it’s very basic, the idea is that the cards that are siblings all get the same position number. The next set of sibling cards under a single note get another position number.

Net-net, you’re repositoning the order of “set of sibling-cards”. The order between the siblings can’t be set from notes mode. Is this feasible?

That’s how Reposition already works – sibling cards are always moved to the same position. The only way to get a different behavior is to select only certain cards (not all of the siblings) in Cards mode, because then only certain cards are repositioned.

Reposition works the same in Notes mode, because by selecting a note, you’ve selected all of its cards. It’s the same as other card-actions, like flag, suspend, or bury, in that respect. What are you seeing that’s different than that?

I was under the impression that reposition only works in cards mode…

I guess this is solved then. The manual does say the options are available through the context menu.

Edit: damn, it took me two tries to find out where it was. checked once didn’t found. check the manual again and it was there.
