Simple eternally random deck

Anki is fabulous and free: thank you! I use it to support language learning. Since it’s free and built by volunteers, please interpret my suggestion as only that, not in any sense a complaint.

I would simply like a one-press setting that randomises card presentation, with all spaced repetition functions entirely disabled. I’ve struggled with settings (with AI support), and it seems eventually possible to get something approaching this: but it’s VERY complicated and opaque, at least to me. I don’t disagree with the learning theory behind spaced repetition, but I’d rather handle this “manually”, using a simple eternally-random deck.

Perhaps this is not so straightforward as it might appear… feel free to ignore me, and thanks again for providing this excellent resource.

This might help you. But keep in mind that randomness inherently goes against the core spaced-repetition idea and might significantly degrade memory consolidation if used incorrectly.

Not exactly what you are requesting, but I think creating a custom deck would do this.

In tools menu “Create Filtered Deck”

In the search box, just type in the name of the deck.
when you are ready to start over, just rebuild the deck.

Thanks so much @Eltaurus and @guffaws , really appreciated. I managed to get something that appears to work, through multiple AI-guided changes to deck settings, but if things go wrong I’ll try the approaches you suggest… thank you!
