Sibling clozes/image occlusion not showing up

Hi,

Whenever I do a cloze type card with multiple occlusions or an image occlusion with multiple occlusions and I start studying them, only the first hidden answer (for either type) shows up. For example, if I did a cloze like this

“I like {{c1:apples}} and {{c2:kiwis}}”

Only the card “I like … and kiwis” shows up while I’m studying. The card “I like apples and …” gets completely skipped and never shows up during studying. But they’re both in the deck, I’ve checked.

It sounds like I have the settings on for burying sibling cards, but I don’t. I checked for every deck and for general settings and that option is toggled off for everything. I haven’t been able to figure out what is going on. The only way I can get them to show up is to hand pick them from the deck and set their due date to today, and even then they only show up as review.

I’d appreciate any help. Thank you!

  1. You’re asking about only New cards, right? [What you describe would be quite normal with Review cards.]

  2. What do you have set for New card gather order, and for New card sort order? For both of these, the preset that matters is the one for the parent-deck you click to study.

  3. Are these sibling cards in the exact same subdeck?

  4. Are these notes/cards you created yourself – or a deck you imported (which could have the cards positioned differently)?

  1. Yes, I’m asking about new cards
  2. I have it set on what the preset was: New card gather order as “Deck” and New card sort order as “card type, then order gatheresd”. I don’t really know what this means
  3. Yes, the sibling cards are in the exact same subdeck
  4. I’m making the deck myself

See what that sort order means: Deck Options - Anki Manual .

Given that sort order, your card 2’s won’t appear until all of the card 1’s you’ve gathered have been introduced. Do you have a very high daily New card limit?

I have it set to 300 and I have no gauge as to whether that’s high or low lol. I’ll try changing the sort order to “order gathered” and see if that works, thank you
