For various reasons, I like to keep the Anki window as narrow as possible. In the old days, I could still see all of columns beside the deck names when I did this. Here’s a screenshot from 2.1.40:
Now when I do this, “Learn”, “Due”, and the gear icons are all either partially or totally hidden, and I have to scroll to the right in order to see them:
I find myself scrolling to the right a lot, because I want to see the “Due” column, but when I do so I can’t see the deck names anymore. I liked it when I had an overview of everything at once.
This is partially due to the addition of the “Learn” column, but seems to also be due to some extra padding. There’s a ton of horizontal space between the deck names and the “New” column.
Does anyone know how to make these columns more compact? I would also be open to removing “Learn” altogether if that’s possible, though I wouldn’t mind having it there if the space issue were resolved some other way.
I’m not sure. I don’t think I changed anything about the zoom, so I think my display is just how Anki 23.12.1 looks on macOS Sonoma 14.2.1.
I installed your Zoom 23 add-on, and it basically solves the problem, so thank you very much for the recommendation! If I set “overview zoom” to 0.7, then everything fits. If it’s set as big as 0.8, the columns are still too wide.
This solution is adequate for me, even though the 0.7 text is a bit small and hard on my eyes. What I would really prefer is to keep the default font size but have less horizontal space between the columns. The width problem is not because my deck names are too long, but because the columns are so padded out now.
With Zoom23, there is a strange flashing now whenever I open a deck or finish reviewing. But I can live with that if it means being able to see all four columns at once on the main screen.
