I haven’t found topics solving my problem, so I created a new one.
There are no any error messages at launching but I see an empty window. I tried to reinstall, install beta version but nothing helped.

Wait for your suggestions guys. Currently I can only use it on Android, and yeah the Mobile version works fine.

I don’t have an option “prefer eGPU” in the Get Info menu.

I don’t know why the latest version doesn’t work on my system but I tried different versions and this one solved my problem 2.1.35 (84dcaa86)
You might as well upgrade to 2.1.38 which is the latest released version.

Actually I’ve solved the problem (empty window instead of GUI) by installing an older version of Anki, 2.1.35 in my case.
What’s your MacOSX version? 2.1.38 works fine with my MacBookPro 2017 MacOSX 10.15.7. Also, disable add-ons temporarily to see if one might be causing the problem. You can do both of these things by holding down the Shift key while starting Anki.
You could try
echo ‘software’ > ~/Library/Application\ Support/Anki2/gldriver
in a terminal to see if that helps with 2.1.38.

So what is the difference between what I download on Github and the pip/python installed version? Is it a newer version of Qt or something?
This solution doesnt work for me because this is not the user experience that I want. I don’t want to have to use command line just to launch anki. I want it to be an APP just like everything else on my computer.
BTW the other workaround that I have been using is to use a very old version 2.1.35 (Alternative). Only the alternative version works!
Please take some pity on us users unable to enjoy the benefits of newer versions. What other information can i provide?
Have you actually tried installing Qt, then Anki from github? From the error message I have the impression that Qt fails to locate some of its core resources (the Qt WebEngine resources), which are responsible for rendering widgets, so it is very plausible that it is the reason why the window opens, but it doesn’t render anything.
Incidentally, pyqtwebengine seems to be a package on its own, so make sure it is installed when installing Qt.

This also worked. However like the pip solution, doesnt result in a packaged Mac app, just a python wheel.
It appears this problem only occurs from the packaged Anki.App files from the releases section of Github. Honestly I would settle for being able to produce the mac app file somehow if theres no way to do an upstream fix. I dont understand why one works and not the other.
When you install from pip you’re pulling in the latest Qt version, which Anki doesn’t use due to various issues it has, which will hopefully be addressed in the future.
I’ve posted a janky, temporary workaround in this other thread.
Hopefully it helps one of you, until this probably-bug-in-QT is fixed — although I’m not optimistic, because it looks like similar bugs have gone unfixed in a large, large number of other qt applications. I suspect it’s just something that only applies to a small portion of macOS users? (Was anybody else on this thread on a MacPro7,1 with AMD Radeon Pro Vega graphics?)
