[Resolved] 'Play All Media' option in controls

There is a ‘show all hints’ option already. Is it possible to do the same, but for media? My media is on the front of the card, and sometime I want to replay it on the back of the card. The ‘play media’ control option won’t play media from the front of the card when you are on the back of the card. Thanks for your time and consideration.

“Replay audio” should work for all of the audio on the front and the back – as long as your Deck Options allow it.

Make sure “Skip question” is turned off. Deck Options - Anki Manual

The menu you’ve shown is from Anki desktop and not AnkiDroid. I don’t see this option in the menu for AnkiDroid

AnkiDroid uses the exact same Deck Options, that it gets from the Anki backend, so it shouldn’t matter where I get the screenshot from. But here you go –

You can include the field containing media on the back of your card. If the field is called “Sound” for example, include this in the back template of the note type you’re using:

{{Sound}}

If the media is already present in the back, Replay audio should play the media.

Download the latest 2.18.4 version.

Hi Sorata. I do have the latest 2.18.4 version, that menu isn’t available as far as I can tell. I do use {{FrontSide}}, which shows everything on the front but that doesn’t work unfortunately. Manually putting the audio on the back with {{Sound}} would clutter the card, as I want to show play buttons on the front side, and there is no menu option to hide play buttons only on the back side. Worse case scenario, I’ll consider that but I think adding a menu option to ‘Play all media’ would be the cleanest solution. (Edit: I found the menu Danika was talking about and it solved my problem, thanks for the help anyway Sorata!)

Instead of {{FrontSide}}, duplicate the Template of the front side on the back.

Or add on the back side
<!--{{Sound}}-->
Another option
<div style='display:none;'>{{Sound}}</div>

Hi Danika, this suggestion actually worked for me! I was originally looking at the deck options in the settings menu. I didn’t realize I could press the individual decks in AnkiDroid for their deck options, like the desktop version. I’ve been using the desktop version for a while, but only recently started using AnkiDroid. Thanks!

thanks for the suggestions Sorata and Keks! Danika solved my problem, but maybe this info will be useful in the future.

Let me explain why Keks suggested that. If you use {{FrontSide}} the deck options for automatic play doesn’t work on the back of your card. If you ever want the front audio to be automatically played on the back, replace {{FrontSide}} with the actual fields.
