Hi everyone,
I’m new to Anki and currently using the desktop version on my MacBook. I have a couple of questions:
Is there a way to display the total number of flashcards in a deck directly on the home screen at all times?
So far, I’ve only been creating flashcards and haven’t started studying them seriously yet. I did test out a few cards, though. Is there a way to reset those cards so they show as “new” again, ensuring I don’t miss them when I officially start studying?
Yes. You can select those cards in the Browse window and use Cards > Reset [check both boxes]. To find just those cards, search for -is:new in the top bar.
That will “zero”-out the cards so you can study them fresh as New cards. It won’t actually delete that old review history though.
If you want them to be completely blank, after you reset them to New, you can use the Remove card history add-on. Sync your collection and make a fresh backup (File > Create Backup) before you use it, because there’s no Undo.
[Is the add-on overkill? Maybe. But I have a bunch of cards that started their life with an unnecessary “reset” event, so they all show that as their “first review” date, even if I didn’t start studying them until years later. And if I’d know about that add-on back then, I could have fixed it!]
