The shared decks site is comically unusable all of a sudden. Forces you to login after 2 searches, and then rate-limits searches per user per day at something like 20-30?
It was already bad enough that you have to play Wordle with the deck topic to see if there’s any decks on the topic you want. I’m fairly certain there’s hundreds of decks I’d love to use but cannot find because I can’t guess tokens in the names well enough. The obvious thing to do is just host a single text-only page with the links to all decks, so you can browse/Ctrl-F as you please.
And before someone gives the spiel about, “it’s a free service, hosting costs money, people are abusing the service with scrapers, I’m a volunteer and I do this in my free time,” there is a very simple technical solution to this, just let people search a single page so you don’t have to process queries one-at-a-time. Or better yet, why not host the public data you’ve been entrusted with publicly, instead of forcing us all to deal with your bus factor? A github repo of just the public deck names, updated weekly or monthly, would be a godsend.
