When I click on the app icon, a box pops up asking me to select a profile. It also says “Deck will be imported when a profile is opened.” I click on the only profile available and it still won’t open. Does anyone know what to do next?
Maybe you’re clicking on an .apkg file instead of the app icon. It could explain “Deck will be imported when a profile is opened.”
If you’re on Windows, try to run Anki by clicking on anki.exe in C:\Program Files\Anki.
If it won’t help, try with anki-console.exe and copy the output.

The OP looks to be using a mac, but Kelciour is right - you’re probably double-clicking on a deck you downloaded onto your desktop, instead of the Anki icon in the Applications folder.
