Would love a notification option that notifies the user if they haven’t completed cards today to keep their streak going! Otherwise, would be nice to be able to have notifications without how many cards I have remaining
Happy to hear you like the idea! I’d love to see it implemented. I haven’t mentioned it to them, I thought the forums were the best spot and hope they see it eventually.
Anki does not have streaks, so this feature is specific to heatmap add-ons such as
These below are from @Shigeyuki Patreon and are actively being developed, maybe these notifications can be added as enhancements
Maybe this can be done? In Ankidroid there are notifications when the user has cards remaining (makes no sense not showing how many cards are remaining)
Thanks for the mention.
I think I can develop an add-on to show a pop-up or send an email when a review is not completed, however the problem is the add-ons will only work if Anki is running. If a user forgets to complete a review, they probably do not run Anki or their laptop so such an add-on may not be likely to work.
AnkiMobile or AnkiDroid would seem ideal as it should always work. AnkiMobile already has the function to notify the user at a specified time and to show the remaining cards in the app’s badge.
I’ll also mention the AnkiDroid widgets. They might be useful as they’re always on your screen.
@Shigeyuki Think the developers will see this here? I agree, AnkiMobile is what I would love to see this on. I rock the desktop and IOS apps.
There’re some days where I can get through alot of my reviews but not all. I’d love to get an IOS notification to reduce the chance of losing my streak. Which I understand is through the heatmap add-on but a notification native to Anki would be great
In AnkiMobile, Preferences>Review>Notifications>Alert When Due can be used to give you a reminder at a certain time of day.
Thanks @dae! I’ve been using this functionality but think it’d be great to have the option to toggle on/off the number of cards that are due
You’re asking for “You have cards due” instead of “You have xxx cards due”? Would you mind elaborating on why you want that? You’ll see the counts as soon as you return to the deck list anyway.
You’re spot on! I’d love to have it without the number of cards. Similar to what you suggested or a similarly welcoming reminder “Don’t forget to tackle your daily cards!”
That’s a good question and a good point you’ve mentioned! Recently I’ve had some chaotic days and do have a backlog. When I’ve got a bunch of notifications (e.g. tasks, reminders, etc) and then my Anki reminder pops up showing a number with a huge backlog I feel it adds to my stress instead of as a daily reminder to tackle what I can
That’s sort of what the daily limits are trying to solve though - if you set your limit to a number you’re comfortable getting through in a day, then the alert shouldn’t show you a number greater than that. I worry that hiding the number only in the notification is not as useful, since you’ll see the actual number (up to your limits) once you open Anki.
