No Longer Able to Copy and Paste Images Into Flashcard on Linux Mint

Hello everyone. I am suddenly unable to copy and paste images into Anki.

The problem:

When creating a specific flashcard, I first copy and paste a .gif image from my browser with the desired output. Previously, this would instantly paste the image and be ready to go. Now, it will sit and hang and ask if I would like to Force Quit the application. If I wait several minutes, the image does eventually paste, but this is not feasible for normal use.

What I’ve Tried

I’ve tried following the troubleshooting guide, by running in safe mode, which resulting in the same behavior, as well as using the Tools to check for database problems. When I checked the database, it did say it optimized it, but the issue remained. I’ve also tried using the flatpak version, the version available on apt, and I’ve also done a clean install using the latest release on the website.

I’ve also tried running it through the terminal for additional information about what might be going wrong. The terminal gives me this output:

$ anki

System Notes

I am currently running version:

Version ⁨24.06.3 (d678e393)⁩
Python 3.9.18 Qt 6.6.2 PyQt 6.6.1

Running on a Linux mint machine, specifically:
Linux Mint 22 x86_64
6.8.0-45-generic

I have had this problem now on two separate Linux machines using different kernels, as well as the latest flatpak version of Anki.
