Move folder location of \AppData\Roaming\Anki2

Hi there, due to the SSD I run windows on being very low on space, I can’t afford to keep my backups and collection on that drive. I have Anki itself stored on a different drive, which is where I’d like to move the C:\Users\me\AppData\Roaming\Anki2 folder to.

I tried referring to the Managing Files part of the Anki Manual and also other posts on this forum but couldn’t find the answer to my issue.

Is there any way to safely and permanently move C:\Users\me\AppData\Roaming\Anki2\ to a different drive?

This section explains the process: Managing Files - Anki Manual
Anything specific still not clear?

If you’re following the instructions in the manual, just copy the Anki2 folder to the other drive and name it “ankidata” or modify the command accordingly. You need to make sure to always run Anki from anki.bat to make it use the new location, otherwise it’ll run with a fresh data folder in the default location.

I copied it to the other drive, and renamed it. It just wiped my data and recreated a new folder in C:\Users\me\AppData\Roaming\Anki2\

That shouldn’t happen, especially the part about wiping data. What exactly is the command you used in anki.bat?
