Mac microphone not asking for permission, Error Message, can't record

Hi all

Trying to record audio for my cards, Macbook won’t request permission to use the microphone.

When I hit the record button whilst editing/adding cards, the error message attached below appears.

In the microphone section of the Mac Privacy & Security settings, Anki does not display at all, so I cannot toggle it to allow microphone, nor is there any way to add it to the list.

I have restarted my laptop, and reinstalled the anki app. Running latest MacOS Sequoia 15.6.1 on Macbook Air M4. Anyone have any ideas for how to fix?

Please try updating your Anki to 25.09. Other people previously reported the same issue, and one person said that the issue was fixed for them in 25.09:
