Anyone knows if some design refresh is planned in the future? Current one is fine but also the same for many years now
You mean the applications user interface or style choices regarding the included templates (as you posted in card design)? I am not aware of any discussion regarding some major overhaul just to go with the tides and expect only gradual refinements (as before).

You could always use anki redesign or anki recolor to give it a fresh coat of paint in the meantime. Redesign’s a lot more involved, with css styling changes. Recolor (my current goto) is a lot more lightweight and just lets you change the palette
